My boyfriend and I took a 10 day road trip in Iceland in September 2017. He’s a landscape photographer and gave me his old camera to play with, this is a shot I took of him while he was shooting.

Me and a couple of friends went to Iceland, rented a Jeep and went on a road trip through Iceland. This amazing shot was taking after parking the car at the beach in the evening, waking up to this beautiful view! I had climb a bit to get the desired height. Absolutely stunning!

I had wanted to visit this church for a long time. Standing alone on a hill above the town of Vik in Iceland, theres no where quite like it. It’s such a stark and dramatic place and it didn’t disappoint. We had some moody skies but when the sun came out and lit up the landscape I knew it would make a great shot.

I had the best time ever flying my drone at Vik Beach, Iceland. It was the most beautiful place that I have ever been and while flying my drone I was able to see even more of the area and nearby cliffs. So cool.

This shot was taken on Easter Sunday while traveling Iceland for a week during Spring. We made it to the town Vik and we were starving with no food for dinner in our camper. I took this shot sitting outside the N1 gas station eating a hot dog and a chocolate milk for dinner. Ill take this view any day!

After driving for days on end hoping for a break in the constant rain, we made our way up the cliffside right as the sun broke through and revealed the layers of deep storm clouds behind us. One of the most beautiful moments I have ever been privileged to witness.

We walked out past the downed DC-3 to an empty beach only disturbed by our own footprints. Large flakes of snow were coming down but the serenity of that beach kept us there until the weather ultimately pushed us out.

Day well spent - our first year anniversary (Sept1, 2019). Interesting fact about this village and the church - Vik lies south of #myrdalsjokull glacier which is on top of #katla volcano. Kalta has not erupted since 1918 and there are speculations that an eruption may occur soon. An eruption could melt enough ice to trigger flash flood, that could wipe out the entire village. The church located high on the hill is believed to be the only building that could survive such a flood. People of Vik practice periodic drills to rush to the church at the first sign of eruption. Mountain range in Þjóðvegur, Iceland

Driving the flat pass through Þjóðvegur, Iceland, we happened upon a group of wild horses. After shooting for 5-10 mins I spotted this little ruined house and wen’t to take a quick snap of it. It seemed like a filthy juxtaposition in the middle of all of this untouched beauty. Surprisingly there was one more horse, tucked away inside and sheltering himself from the wind and cold.

After walking for 45 minutes through horizontal snow and driving wind, we finally saw the shape appear of the whiteness. In this alien and martian landscape there is now color, simply the black sand of the beach and the white of the snow.

This plane wreck was in my bucket least since I started using Instagram. Insta folks love it don’t you? So it’s a US Navy DC plane that crashed on the beach because someone forgot to fuel up the tank (actually switch over to the wrong tank).

On our way to the DC-3 plane wreckage site, there was a long stretch that we had to walk. In between shenanigans I started contemplating the landscape far out in the distance, after some minutes, the light started hitting the mountain in such a way that its reflection looked pink-red.

Shore in Black Sand Beach, Iceland

The Black Sand Beach in Vik, Iceland is one of my favorite places in the world. It was incredible to have the opportunity to photograph this beach. We were there in December, which means Iceland only had a couple hours of daylight with a very long sunrise and long sunset. I shot this with a 10 stop ND filter and a 30 second exposure.

An incredible slow shutter speed shot of the iconic Black Sand Beach in Vik Iceland during the winter months with only a few hours of daylight. The sun was setting far off in the distance, beaming through the clouds and reflecting off the water retracting back into the ocean. I shot this with a 10 stop ND filter and a 30 second shutter.

Cave in Sólheimajökull, Iceland

I came to the glacier at 5 am when and found no traces of life except for an old yellow school bus used as an office for a local tour company. Signs “Do not go without a helmet and ice cleats” couldn’t stop my inner adventurer. So I went alone. I went pretty far and the terrain started looking more and more intimidating. If you fell in a crack, you’re done. After getting a good number of pictures, I turned back and successfully got out of there carrying a good amount of pics and memories.

Glacial landform in Sólheimajökull, Iceland

  20 km from Cape Portland

We went to Iceland in February to visit the land of ice and fire in the winter - ice caves, glacier walks, northern lights and hot pots under snow. Unfortunately 2017 has been so much warmer than normal - as warm as April or May usually are - that glaciers are melting away at unprecedented rates. The distance between where the photo was taken and the glacier has doubled in less than 12 months.

Coming home from Switzerland I stopped in Iceland for 24 hours, I hopped into a landy and drove out to a couple of the most famous waterfalls between 2 and 7 am. I had the whole place to myself and it was amazing. Dark, cold, rainy, and perfect.
